Lights For Liberty-Dayton, Ohio
Please share & bring your friends to Lights for Liberty this Friday evening at Courthouse Square in Dayton, one of over 600 worldwide events taking place to oppose the inhumane conditions faced by all those held in US detention camps and help shine a light on the cruelty of US immigration policy. Speakers and musical performances will begin at 7:00 pm and conclude with a candlelight vigil at 9:00 pm.
Bring signs or make some there. Candles will be available for the candle light vigil, but if you bring your own, please bring something that will catch the dripping wax.
Speakers who have been active in advocating and providing assistance for asylum seekers will discuss the issues of human detention camps in the United States, the treatment of asylum seekers, the lasting impacts on children being held in camps while separated from their parents and the historic roots of the migrant crisis. Activities and information about how the public can help will be available.
At 9:00 p.m., around the country and around the world, participants will light candles in a silent vigil for all those held in US detention camps to bring light to the darkness of the Trump administration’s horrific policies.
As of today, Lights for Liberty vigils are scheduled in nearly 600 locations worldwide on five continents, with new locations being added daily
Lights for Liberty is a loose coalition of international, national, regional and local communities and organizations dedicated to human rights and the fundamental principle behind democracy that all human beings have a right to life, liberty and dignity.
